I have no questions.. just regrets..I have one question.. why? why did i do it?
I have had my dog since I was a young boy and I am now a grown man. He was 11 years old. I got this dog when he was so small he could fit in one hand. I literally grew up with this dog and I loved him so much he was my best friend for a long time, even though I didn’t always treat him like I should have. He spent much of his life couped up inside like a prisoner, but a few months back we got a house way out in the country and i let him run free because I was tired of seeing him look miserable inside with no yard. At first I was worried about him running but I soon realized he knew where his home was and he would always come home before it got dark. In fact he would spend most of his time on the porch or around the house even though he had free run of the entire wilderness. He was in such good shape for such an old dog, even though I am pretty sure he was in the beginning stages of heart worm because his breathing was so labored when he slept and he would cough a lot. Nonetheless he would chase the younger dogs around and he was the boss of his domain.

There was a pond out back where he would run, play and catch small creatures and eat them. He had the time of his life. Unfortunately, I had to go and mess it all up….

It all started when I cheated on my girlfriend whom I live with and love very much. I left her for more than a week and I almost lost my job by doing so. Fortunately she took me back because she loves me so much. Unfortunately, I was unable to pay the rent because of this and instead of using all of my money to pay my bills and stay where I was at, I decided to go to a relative’s house where I could save money. Although I loved my little house in the country, the gas money was adding up and my girlfriend’s job really sucked. We took a trip to the area where my relative lived and she wound up getting a good job.

So we moved to an area where the highway is about 200 yards from the house and there is a street less than 50 yards from the house. Since the backyard is so massive though, like literally acres and acres, I didn’t want to deprive my old doggie of his running space and take his liberty back. I insisted he run free like at the old house, and he had a great time doing so. He would play with my relatives dog who also runs free. They got into a lot of mischief and wound up going to the pound one time and we had to bail them out… then last week things took a turn for the worst…

It has been getting cold outside and it has even been raining. I have been working so hard that I would neglect my dog, which I have been in the habit of doing for a while. I would look over from time to time while he was in the house and he would look so sad and miserable. I’d pet him for a little while and then I’d let him outside because I know he has fun outside. However lately he began wanting to come inside a lot. He didn’t run around as much, and he would just sit on the chair on the porch and sleep.

One night last week he tried to come in. It was dark, it was kind of cold and it had been raining. he looked full of life as usual and ran up ot the door when he saw me, trying to come in as hard as he could. Being the lazy neglectful idiot that i am i told him to hold on a minute…. I forgot about him…

I left him out there for about two hours. When my girlfriend got home from work he greeted her and he was fine. She went in with the groceries, we talked for a while and in about an hour she decided to go and let him in. Unfortunately.. he was nowhere to be found.

I look back at that night and I see my furry son’s face as he looks up at me wanting so badly to come in. That night like many others i took him for granted. I neglected him. I guess I expected him to be there later. There he was one moment… an hour later gone. It has been a week now,,, no sign of my buddy.. i have searched everywhere on this land. I have gone through mud in freezing weather, posted fliers, called pounds, posted on craigslist, asked people in the neighborhood.. there is no sign of him.

I have heard that dogs sometimes go off in the wilderness to die. He didn’t seem like he was gonna die soon. This guy was so full of life. He was so vibrant and energetic. I mean he still caught creatures and killed them.He still ran around full speed.

Do you all think he ran away because i didn’t let him in? You think dogs do that? he has never ran away. I love this dog so much, and now i am just asking myself why.. why didn’t i just let him in.. that night when i stared at him in the doorway we looked at each other as if we both knew.. but at the time i didn’t realize it. He looked atme and we froze and stared at each other and that moment is trapped in my head forever now. I’ll never forget the time I let my best friend run off never to see him again. I never thought i would cry like this over a dog. But he was the first dog i ever had and i didn;t know how much i would miss him until now.

I would be more

you said you had no questions.

It’s ok, we all make mistakes. It could be possible the dog ran away, or went to find shelter. Either way, if and when you get him back make sure you take a little time each day just so he knows you still love him. To me, a best friend comes before a girlfriend. Good luck!!

You made me cry. I feel your pain, baby. Hang in there. Wherever he is, he feels your love. He might’ve found a new home and he might’ve (well, let’s face the dark side too) died, but I’m sure in every different scenario, he will have understood you. Humans have words to communicate their feelings, but animals don’t, so they are more sensitive to other’s emotions. He will have known. He ran away because he isn’t adjusted to his new life and his new treatment of you. He is like the rebellious, neglected son of a busy father. His father cares about him, but doesn’t have the time to show him. So the son runs away, believing that the father hates him. But sooner or later, every child like that comes around. If the dog had indeed run away, he has turned back and is searching for you now. Don’t despair. Pray for him to be safe. I hope wherever he is, he is warm and safe. He is probably dreaming of you. <3

My sister is an alcoholic. This disease runs in the distant family, but I seem to set it off. Help.?
My sister drinks more than she eats to the point of blurred memory or blackout. She uses the drinking to excuse herself from her actions, rationalize promiscuous behaviors, and justify anything else out of the ordinary that she would otherwise do, if conservatively sober. She is, after all, an attorney in a high paying New York City firm. She is my twin sister, which I believe, makes the matter worse. See, I think she drinks more than she should in part, because of me. Pent up sibling rivalry and jealously? Most of the ‘behaviors’ she is excusing herself from, revolve around my defamation. So, she can get loaded, spread tales and lies, throw herself at guys I may potentially have an interest in, stalk and harass me (yes, she’s in my neighborhood and building uninvited), and chalk it up to another ‘oops’ night with the drinking. But its seemingly intentional.

She has no reason to be ‘jealous’ of me; she is actually the more successfully of the twin duo so it is a ridiculously mute point to begin with. When I have tried to ‘begin’ conversations in the past, she stares blank faced and lies as if I am the one making up the accusations out of my own. She needs help. I think the alcohol has affected more than her judgment, and has manipulated her chemical balances. I am not even sure where to begin. My parents look at her as the golden child, so voicing any concern would appear ludicrous, and wage nothing other than an uphill battle. I’d like to stay away from her altogether due to her erratic behaviors and opinions towards me, but obviously I love her as my sister, and we used to be extremely close. I try to talk to her every now and again, and we do occasionally hang out. What should I do?

best thing is to keep your distance,or at least when she is drinking, tell her one time to get help, then leave it alone, she has to hit bottom to see the light,I was in a fight for years with my family, until I sobered up,now we get along just fine, she has to first admit she has a problem, then want to quit more than anything.
melter | Jan 31, 2010

For starters she may be technically the more ’successful’ one in your eyes, but you may be happy in your life or have things in your life (husband, kids, peacefulness, confidence, anything to be valued that money can’t buy) and she may so desperately want that and therefore be jealous of you. Who knows, but one thing is for sure: you’re right. She isn’t thinking clearly and her chemicals are mixed up in her brain. Now that doesn’t mean w/ sobriety that won’t change back, but for now she isn’t thinking like her ‘normal’ self. That’s not an easy thing to deal w/. The way she’s treating you and the things she’s doing toward you are not fare or called for. But that’s addiction for ya. Speaking for myself (I"m the youngest of 3, both my sibs. and both my parents have all struggled w/ addiction during my life except for me) the best way I’ve found in loving and ‘interacting’ w/ people who are using (drugs or alcohol) is to not expect ANYTHING from them because they are not able to provide, meet expectation or even show up for the most part. You love her, support her as best you can in doing positive things: she needs a hug, a shoulder to cry on, etc, but your money, your roof over your head, your car or anything that is going to support her in not getting better or prolonging her addiction (cuz’ it WILL continue to get worse until she either dries out or loses her job, house, car, etc. and then hopefully dries out) should not be provided to her, in my opinion of course. There’s nothing you can do to stop her cuz’ addiction is stronger than any words that you could say. I think, even though she’s the "golden" child to your parents it might be a good idea to gently talk to them about your concerns. They deserve to know and have the opportunity to help her. And lastly, because she is addicted right now, I think it’s really important to be careful, emotionally speaking, what you put out on the line. She’s not in any condition to handle your feelings w/ care so you have to be careful how you mentally are prepared to be around her. Maybe its not a good idea to be around her right now. I don’t mean love her less. I just mean you have to continue to live your life because she’s not gonna’ stop for anyone but herself and only when she’s ready. That means love her always, show her you love her whenever you’re around her (if she yells at you, calls you names and in response you sincerely, yet simply just say, "You know, I really love you. And nothing you can say or do will ever change that. I love you." That definitely 1) shows her your love, which she really needs right now and 2) It puts her behavior back on her cuz’ there is no fight. There’s just her poor behavior and your love for her. Its most likely gonna’ help her to see herself more clearly and her behavior. Lastly, I suggest looking into some codependency groups like Al-anon for example. There you’ll be in a room full of people who are going through exactly what you are and the people running the meetings will teach you how to better interact w/ your sis and to, despite her actions, live your own life…even if she’s spreading rumors about you and what not. Hang in there. This too shall pass….
K | Jan 31, 2010

First of all you cannot have your sister shunt her behaviour off on you. You are an Intelligent person. I make that assumption by the way you convey your thoughts and fears.

She can spread lies and gossip about you all she wants. As long as you know otherwise. The thought she is doing so is not a nice feeling. Have you confronted about it? Probably would not have an impact if you did.

Certainly you love her. She is your sister. Does not mean you have to like what she does. You know she has a problem, everybody else knows she has a problem. The only one that doesn’t know is your sister.

I suggest you tell your sister you want nothing more to do with her until she has her life in order. Hopefully, she can start at least. Remain firm and don’t allow her into your home until she does. Sometimes have to be cruel to be kind

Have you given thought to attending Al-Anon meetings? Maybe a good idea to seek professional counselling for yourself also.

Good luck.

Bipolar disorder and parents, please give advice!?
I feel like I’m ruining my life, but even though I’m quite intelligent and from a loving family, that doesn’t help me.My standards of what’s right and wrong are falling dramatically, and I feel insane most of the time, and suicidal the rest of the time. But I can’t help it,I can’t focus on anything at all,my aims and views change constantly. My grades in school are now rock bottom from straight A’s all my life, and my parents were angry and disappointed,so I told them that I think I need professional help, and they tried everything in their power to stop me going to a doctor and going on medication. How do I convince them that they just can’t help me by offering me money and giving me freedom? Thanks so much, please don’t be nasty,I’m just looking for help yano =/

you’re parents are the ones that need help if they are holding you back from feeling happy again.

I’m serious! you need to see a doctor and be on meds because I know for a fact it will help you.

honestly, this is a medical issue and if your parents aren’t willing to take you… then i suggest going to your friend and telling them and there parents that they need to help you. there parents might be able to talk some sense into yours and maybe they can take you to the doctor.

I’m sorry this has happened, but you can’t take this problem lightly if you really are depressed.

Best of luck.
Despite being damned to the lowest rung of the law enforcement ladder, Earl and Hank uncover a sophisticated smuggling operation led by Nash and his band of thugs. When Earl and Hank get their hands on some hot property, they go on the run from, first the bad guys, then the L.A.P.D.—led by Lt. Washington and Detective McDuff. What these two unlikely partners do to law enforcement is a crime, but they just might save the day. That is, if they don’t kill each other first.

what is this halloween movie?
these are the key things i remember about it, it was an epic movie that looked like it wouldve been made in the late 90s for kids:

-There was a huge tower of pumpkins in the park and they fell on top of a kids dad or grandad and killed him but he came back as a ghost
-There was a kid that got locked in an art room who was bullied and looked allot like edward scissor hands and came back with fireflies around him and stuff
-Everyone threw a halloween party at the weird kids old house and ghosts crashed the party
-At the end there are loads of ghost dancing together at a cemetery or park and float into the sky

thats all i can remember and its really bugging me that i cant remember the name!!!lol

Shaun is 12 and a bit of a loner, growing up with his mum in a grim coastal town, his dad killed fighting in the Falklands War. On his way home from school where he’s been tormented all day for wearing flares, he runs into a group of skinheads, who against expectations turn out to be friendly and take him under their wing. Soon Shaun discovers parties, girls and snappy dressing, and finds some role models in Woody, Milky and the rest of the gang. But when an older, overtly racist skinhead returns home from prison, the easy camaraderie of the group is broken, and Shaun is drawn into much more uncomfortable territory. Based largely on his own experience as a youngster, this is Shane Meadows’ most mature and fully realised film. Handling the complexities of masculinity, violence and race with sensitivity and a lightness of touch, it’s hard to imagine a film that would better capture the mood of the time, or that could have any greater an understanding of the allure of being part of a gang.

Generally support as many teams as we can get in the CL though but I agree there is a fair chance that the 4th placed team struggles to get in but it’s a long way off and so much could change between now and then

What are some good ways to improve your quality of life and outlook?
I seem to have "hit a wall."
Good things: I am in decent shape, have very low debt (less than $1000), education completed, making steps toward my future in music (got a recording label/ making cd).

The problem is, I feel depressed. I am anxious and feel like I am in a rut sometimes. I get bored and create problems for myself. I fret over financial issues since money is tight.

What can I do to feel more zen, happy go lucky, excited and less jaded, down, impatient, and agitated? I have not always been this way, but lately (last 2 months) I have been feeling like this.

Is it chemical? If not, how do I change my train of thought? Thanks for any and all positive input. I want to get better.

Stopping by a good doctor, MD or ND is a good idea, just in case talking to someone, or a medicine is the path for you.
When I get in a rut, and I can’t seem to find or pinpoint a cause… I immerse myself in a hobby, new or old that’s different from any of the work or projects I’m currently working on.
I play the piano, and when I feel like I can’t progress, I take a break from it. Do something else, and often when I return (hours, days, weeks, months) I have ‘reset" how I was thinking about it, and often don’t make a mistake in the same passage I was struggling with - as if I somehow forgot how to make that mistake.
I do make new mistakes though! ANd eventually just go through that cycle again…. ah life…and it’s cycles…
Best of luck. Wild_Iris | Feb 01, 2010

I would say that it is NOT chemical, it is exactly what you said: you need to change your train of thought. You have gotten into a habit of negative self-talk and negative beliefs, and when you do that, your subconscious believes everything negative you say and it manifests itself in real life. The more you think negatively, the more bad things happen and the worse you feel.
Hypnosis can really help. Hypnotist Laura King has a series of self-help hypnosis cds that can help you change your quality of life and outlook. Laura King became a hypnotherapist because hypnosis helped her many years ago when she was depressed and unhappy with her life.
Here is the link:
http://www.selfhypnosishypnotherapy.com/ self-confidence-hypnotherapy/build-self- image-hypnotherapy/hypnosiss-45.html+YA

Hypnosis will help you. You seem really smart (yours is probably the most well-written question I have ever seen on Yahoo answers!) and self-aware, so you are the perfect candidate for hypnotherapy.

Good luck!
Laura | Feb 01, 2010

It could be chemical. Please get screened for depression since you have felt this way for some time.
If it is chemical, medication can take the edge off and make you feel more hopeful.

I think a great way to feel "more Zen" is finding a cause you can donate your time to. When you volunteer with a cause that you believe in, it does wonders for your psyche. And it gets you out of yourself so you can think about something other than you.

Every organization could use help so get on the net and find out what interests you in your town.
Ex. reading to children, children with cancer at hospital, zoo, shelters for cats or dogs, battered women, homeless shelter, literacy- the list goes on and on. Good luck.

is it time we curb women's rights?
yea, I know that can stir up the emotion. But you know what Im realizing? How rotten this society is getting.

I know its kind of embarrasing to say that sex is a basic need. But it is, it often is a lubricant too to self-esteem, emotional depth, and although I wouldn’t say happiness, contentment. However, the US, for all freedom ringing, is incredibly repressive when it comes to sex. Since women have gotten more rights, they have increasingly become more and more spoiled. And although before they didn’t have equal rights in the workforce, men could always be counted on to take care of them due to the relative bigger sex drive. Its not necessarily true that the reverse will take place. If a women takes a man’s job, is the man to get a women to support him? you see, not only may it be embarrasing to some (not to me though), but it may not be possible…the fact is, women do not have that big a sex drive, and are not so inclined to reach out unless its with close friends of fraternize with buddies from highschool, its more convenient.

And although I think its entirely noble to reach for tha goal, of equal rights, and I never realyl evcen thought of it until like…recently. The more I age, the more I realize that you cannot design a legal system only with intent and noble and lofty goals in mind. Because it can have a hellish outcome "good intentions are the road to hell".

I mean, the more I like, the more I see women so incrediblty spoiled, they will not even appreciate someone like me. (I usually go for very good looking girls). They know they have 10-20 guys begging to kiss their ass, so if they don’t like ANYTHING that I do, any arrogant leaning, they’ll just go to one of those losers that kiss their ass daily, or friends and acquaintences the yfeel comfortable with, or pander to them and beg and thus act like a gangster (when we really know what that means…asshole? that’s flattering them, we all know, deep inside, what these guys are). And Im totally fine with that…But sometimes man, I just want to get laid, but i cannot pay for sex…

you see? so it just gets me frustrated. I have a high self-esteem and hold myself in high regard, but boy, it still weighs on me emotionally to go through that roller coaster until I hit it off.

I just wish it were different. Somehow better than the lowly bratty atmosphere you have. I think perhaps the law should be changed.

And no, Im not for curbing women’s rights…but if we cannot legalize prostitution because its exploiting women (I beleive however the ads on alte night television and the rampant web porn on the internet is just as exploiting of men)….and we cannot crub women’s rights…I think something is bound to give man. I certainly have never been an angry guy, but I find myself increasingly pissed off at the opposite sex. IBut I realize that its just the system man, its not the people that act out the roles. But still its got me al lfucked up in the head, especially with the rampant spread of porn on the internet, and I resent the society for not allowing me a way out, and the legal system being so god damn rigid. There is literally no way out but this really degrading system (for man and women alike). I know most girls are not bitches that use the desperation of man to their advantage, but it still goes to their head, they get spoiled, and men become assholes…is taht what we want? is that what people had in mind when they designed these laws? No, I think its just that political pressures of the time, and emotions from both sides kind of just design this with the mask of good intentions, when its really inbred resentment, and it ends up creating a system with incredibly noble and lofty intentions, but hellish and disgusting results.

Look guys, this cannot last forever. These things you hold for granted women, can change, overnight. We need to start changing this narrative. Allow for prostitution to be at least not illegal in states, while disallowing the federal goverment get involved in such matters. I can’t stress myself over this. I cannot be constantly thinking about this bs. I don’t buy this narrative. I reject its premise and implications. Its all flawed. I think any rational person can see that.

And most of the eyewitnesses have rather too conveniently died.
